EU: Barley markets quiet, prices a bit lower on lack in demand
EU barley markets are rather quiet without any major turnover in the open market this week, GrainCom reported on May 19.
Prices are trending a bit lower in view of lack in demand, liquidity is thin, it is reported.
GrainCom have reduced their barley production forecast down to 59.80 mln tonnes, Strategie Grain reduced its forecast from 61.3 mln tonnes to 59.6 mln tonnes.
The French farm office France Agrimer published on May 19 slightly lowered wheat ratings (75% good/excellent vs. 76% good/excellent the week earlier). Winter barley ratings are unchanged at 67% good/excellent. Spring barley ratings improved to 78% good/excellent from 77% last week.
